- The Grünloch-Experiment (Lunz am See, Austria)

- Meteorological Field Campaign about temperature inversions in Alpine basins

The quiet difficult descent down from Dürrenstein. Below the fresh fallen snow, icy, old snow made this way sometimes very slippery.

...

Short before Legsteinalm, the sun disappeared behind the mountains, but we had still a while to go.

Fortunately we had this night full moon and so it was no big deal to find our way and to build up our tents.

Next morning. During night an inversion built up at the Danube valley.

View to the Upper Austrian mountain ranges.

After a short breakfast we went down to Gruenloch, in order to install some new temperature data logger.

We put the mini-computers of the HOBOS (temperature data logger of Onset) in insulated pipe sections. Last winter we had problems, that the computer didn't work anymore at -40°C.

The owner of the land and his employees are watching us and gave us some useful tips.

We installed three HOBOS at the lowest point of the sinkhole (small mountain basin).
