- The Grünloch-Experiment (Lunz am See, Austria)
- Meteorological Field Campaign about temperature inversions in Alpine basins
|
|
Now we had the answer.
The insulation didn't work out. Only the lowest logger (which was covered by
snow) worked until the temperatur sensor was also covered by snow, so that
we measured only snow temperatures after December 25. But in the only few days, where the logger was able to measure the air temparture, we measured -47°C (Christ night 2003).

On the way to the
Seekopfalm sinkhole, where we had also one station installed.

View into the very
interesting sinkhole in the neighbourhood of Grünloch.

The upper temperature logger is not covered by snow. The snow depth on the plateau was about 1.6 metres (63 inches).

Freeing the station of
the snowy burden.

In the meantime the sons of Manfred Dorninger found new ways of a faster approach to sinkholes.

|
Maybe at our next
Grünloch trip, we will use also the garbage bag method.

|
After downloading all
data logger, we went to Pauschen Alm.

The Pauschenalm source.

Near the alp you have a
nice view into the Seetal (Lake Valley) and to the mountain ranges East of
Dürrenstein.
